You could try thepotteries.org
Had a look under M and there's a T Morris, Longton, Regent Works
1892-1941 But they don't have an example of the mark, and no mention of a lion.

Thanks Oldmagpie. found the mark on both Worthpoint and Kovels but both require subscriptions to find any information. Anywhere that you know of that I could use todate my piece?

Sorry nothing I know offhand that will get more accurate than somewhere in those 20 years unless your item has a pattern you can track through one of the replacement china companies.

It's the "Handbook of Pottery & porcelain marks " J.P.Cushion , It's around 270 pages and covers a few countries in brief.

Re: Backmark lion above TM
Oldmagpie is correct, as it seems that from around 1912 they used a crown mark with "Crown Chelsea China" in a fancy circle underneath. From Encylopardia of British Pottery and Porcelain Marks.
You aren't really going to get closer to an exact date, as your plate doesn't have a date stamp, as used with a few potteries and, of course, dinner service patterns were in production for a number of years.

Re: Backmark lion above TM
thanks for all the info guys. When I bought it(cup&saucer) my guess was late 19th/early 20th as it just had that early Art Nouveau look about it, bargain at £2.
