Could this be from the Salem, in the USA? Of witch burning fame? There are several Salems n the US, but I'm assuming that any pot ending up over here would have been bought by a tourist, visiting the 'real' Salem.
Grogg-filled buff-coloured clay, partially covered with a thick, drippy, white and pink glaze with glassy chunks in it. Very tactile - one could almost say, warty.
Marked SALEM on the base.

I know that you can get porcelain made by the Salem china Co, Salem Ohio.

Actually Salem Ohio seems to be a significant city for the production of US pottery, one of it's founders was a potter.

Cheers, Roy. Not a porcelain/china pot so not factory made, but Ohio does have it's share of studio potters, so it could be from there.
