Re: Tea Set oriental
Is the picture on the front of each piece transfer printed? - some can look blobby, giving the impression of being hand drawn, if they use a block stamp with different amounts of ink. Same with the 'signature'.
Tbh, there are a lot of hand decorated tea sets, artificially crackle glazed, being stocked by chain stores like Tiger. These look brand new - the wax resist 'flower' decoration is atypical of traditional pieces. Without a signed box and accompanying paperwork to say they are from a master potter I would treat them as new and from a chain store.

Nice little patio set. I'm sure you'll get your money's worth out of them in this weather.

Re: Tea Set oriental
Looks like Japanese hand thrown factory produced to me.
Sounds a decent buy anyway, as the quality looks quite good.

The quality should be good. They've had a lot of practice.
Don't know about Japanese, though. The darker clay points more to Korea or Taiwan.

A lot of Japanese potters use dark clay?

Re: Tea Set oriental
I think it's Japanese factory produced ware but at a very fair price despite being "one cup short of a set"!
