Re: John Pollex
He's rolled back on the perfection of the table wares he had to churn out by the ton in his earlier years, when he was making the older style slipware.

Re: John Pollex
Thanks Naomi, I really appreciate that
I'm a little surprised though, the shape (of the stamp) is different from what's in the book. Im guessing it's another one they've missed.

Yes, they've got the rectangular shaped example of this mark but not the square or circle, and the circle is the more common one.
I'm told it represents ripples of water

That book really is lacking, in so many respects.
I haven't given up hope that you have a change of heart and write the definitive "go to" book on studio marks. It would be the best one out there Naomi.
Many thanks again

First time I have seen that. It would chime with the fact that for many years his studio was on the first floor of an old warehouse on Plymouth Barbican which overlooked the inner harbour. This was long before the Plymouth Barbican got all trendy and lined with expensive flats. It was still a working fishing port. The well known painter Robert Lenkiewicz also had a working studio on Plymouth Barbican for many years.

Re: John Pollex
Came across a pot with the square and circle shaped stamps side by side. Pollex said the square was used by other potters at the Barbican which is why he made his round, and then switched to his monogram, so unless a square one also has his personal stamp it may not be by him

That would actually chime from what I remember Naomi. The times that I bought from his Studio there were always one or two people besides him working there.
