Small heavy black pot with inscribed three word mark to base, any ideas?
Odd little vase, heavy for its size, with an unusual glaze that's feels somewhere between Prinknash and black soapstone. Clearly inscribed mark in an illegible (to myself at least!) handwriting...

Leebeth Monterey something??
Might be Barro negro pottery, from Oaxaca Mexico - their stuff is made by the pinch-pot technique and then burnished, rather than wheel turned and glazed.

Thanks, the technique is very similar to Barro Negro, but the mark looks different to anything for that, online at least. Will do a rubbing to see if anything further is revealed!

Often Oaxaca pots are signed by the artist and with the village name, so they vary a lot. Some artists are illiterate so other people will sign the pots for them.
