I just didn't think they would go to the bother of handpainting a repetitive mark when a simple stamp would do , , so I think it's a stamp .

I agree Naomi, it is good quality which doesn't rule out fake but why go to the trouble of producing a quality item then place an unknown mark on it.

Looking at the mark yet again, I'm going to agree with Ed that it's just an unevenly inky stamp.

There were porcelain factories in Austria putting fake German stamps on their pieces, but the quality wasn't as good, and although the marks were not direct copies of German factory marks, they were close enough to deceive the buyers (and I'm talking 19th Century buyers here). I don't think there is enough of a mark here to deceive a buyer other than maybe making them think the factory was in some way patronised by one of the Royal families. The quality is still very good.
