Youghal Pottery Ireland - Jack O'Patsy and Tony Breslin Empty Irish lampbase, Youghal Pottery

Post by benwilliams February 1st 2020, 5:29 pm

14” lampbase , greenish leaf pattern and creamy glaze.
The incised signature looks like Youghal.
There are cliff Pottery Youghal, County Cork, Ireland, pieces online with a different mark.
Has anyone seen this one and what date might it be?
Thank you.

The glazed base and three pointed spur marks indicate and earlier date for the pottery; maybe 50s-60s.
Cliff Pottery used the local red clay in Youghal, and was in operation in the 70s, if not before. But this clay looks whiter.
Also Youghal Pottery set up by Jack O'Patsy and Tony Breslin in the 1990s; this looks earlier.

Youghal Pottery Ireland - Jack O'Patsy and Tony Breslin Empty Earlier Generation of Pottery

From I suspect an earlier era - it has tripod marks etc. No idea what the clay looks like, though - looks lighter than red!

Jack O'Patsy and Tony Breslin owned the pottery. I think they employed other potters. Located at Quarry Road, Foxhole, Youghal, County Cork in the 1990s and then at 14 Friar Street, Youghal. Some pots are stamped JOP for Jack O'Patsy.
