Re: Unknown Vase
Looked at it but it doesn't ring a bell. Might be German. I tend not to pay attention to German stuff.

Re: Unknown Vase
The signature looks like Arroyo to me - and there's an Erika Arroyo (aka the Laughing Potter) in Islip, NY, USA. Might be her? No idea what she's got to laugh about.
Re: Unknown Vase
Thanks r-and-f, could be a good shout, having trouble finding images of her signature/marks though.

Re: Unknown Vase
Hi Roy.
Maybe that vase is a student piece from "António Arroio" school in Lisbon, Portugal.
Students used to play with the "i" from "Arroio" and change it for an "y".
Look at this pictures:

only to say that I don't think Roy's vase has anything to do with the António Arroio School in Lisbon. "Arroyo" is a name of Spanish origin and it should be the signature of the potter...
Also, that the students were not playing with the "i" . Before the 1911's orthographic revision, portuguese orthography included the "Y" and, after that, several people kept on using it.
