Sculpural pot Malver20

Strange one this 9" high , Nicely made apart from the base that had felt covering ( removed to reveal very rough base , sorry no pic) a little of the glaze remimded me of something like the tintagel pieces , in colour anyway , it's a pot not a lamp but non functional .

The glazes all appear to be the type that hobby potters and colleges use. Probably that should read used i.e. back in the 1960s/70s.

Really like it, except for those rings at the top. It's either by a very good potter who can get away with it, or it's by a hobby potter.

Ta , Interesting that , it cost a fiver and I was hoping that the base would give a makers mark under the felt , but alas it was rough as a badgers A**e , or just not finished well , I agree the rings don't do a lot for me either , other than that quite well made and pleasing to hold , so hobby potter it is then Happy

I found that quite amusing, not because your wrong, but because it's often true!

I often see pictures of pots from "very good" potters, that look like they have been made by hobby potters. Big Laughter

I'd tend to agree with the others on Ed's pot, but with a pot like this I'm never confidant saying hobby potter, due to the above Happy

If it is a hobby potter, as least it's one of the more interesting ones Most Excellent

Maybe a failed attempt at a lamp base. Happy
Like the glaze.

Ah ! now that's a point , failed attempt or unfinished would explain why the base was a bit rough , maybe being prepared for cut out , when we saw it on the stall at first we thought lampbase , that would be a strong possibility , must have been a good amateur that done it IMO.
