Figural Lion With Crossed Paws
Unable to find any information on this earthenware glazed lion and hope someone will be able to help me. There are no visible markings, which makes it more difficult for me to identify. I'm wondering whether this is a staffordshire piece?

Re: Figural Lion With Crossed Paws
The honeycomb glaze round the lion's mane looks typical of Foster's Pottery. That would also tie in with the brown glaze over the rest of the body.
If not Fosters, then probably one of the other potteries from that area like Devonmoor or Dartmouth.

Or might be Kernewek Pottery, Cornwall.

Fosters seems warm NaoiM, but unable to find anything that resembles this to the Bo'ness design from the 1900's, reference to:

I've looked at the Devonmoor and Darmouth pottery and unable to find anything. The honeycombe design does make me think it may be a Fosters piece though. I also managed to find some on the ebay site, under staffordshire lion, but these have glass eyes and I am assuming are solid not hollow like mine. I would date mine at a guess to the mid-20th century. Could be earlier or later. I'm not too sure. I first thought there was a bit of patina to this piece. that is, until I whiped it down a bit. I was quite surprised by the high quality glaze to it. It's quite a large piece, measuring, roughly, 21.5cm in height and the oval base length, 24.5cm. It does have some weight to it, considering that it is hollow, weighing 1.6kg.
