Japanese or Chinese stamp, and looks like it's been signed by the potter on the side or it might be a glaze trial piece (probably the latter).

Probably Japanese but I don't think a glaze test. The script might be a phrase or saying but difficult to make out.

If it is quite small then it is likely to be a sake cup and I would not be surprised if the writing on the side is the Japanese equivalent of "Cheers" or "Good Health".

Not a teabowl as it is the wrong shape. It does look too big for a sake cup when you compare with the others but the Z - at the bottom looks like a character from a drinking toast.

What about a sake cup for a "real drinker". Cheeky
