Re: Tony Wood
Tony Wood was the last member of the Wood family to be invloved in ceramic production in the Potteries that had begun back in the 18th Century with the brothers Moses, Aaron and Ralph.
He had been Managing Director of the public company, Wood & Sons, that went into receivership in 1982 and, in partnership with Elizabeth Capper, he formed Tony Wood Studio 82 Ltd.
This company produced toby jugs and other novelties such as your cat teapots until it too went into receivership in 1991.
Although they had no connection to the Wood family, Wood & Sons was bought from the receivers in 1982 and continued trading until 2005 and Wood Potters of Burslem was a company started after the demise of Tony Wood Studio 82 Ltd by a company that Tony Wood had supplied.
