Why 'American'? Looks like the AW mark for Alan Ward, Whitstable Pottery.

the only reason was that it came out of an americans cellar where there was some american and mexican stuff the two pots have identical biege stoneware clay

very similar to the alan ward mark except the overall stamp shape and the legs of theA protrude below the V's of the W
