Large flat sided stoneware bottle.
I should have taken some photos when I was handling it, but forgot, so there's only the one through the window.
Large slab built, or moulded, flat sided stoneware bottle.
Has a one inch high oval foot rim (slab, rather than thrown) on the base (chipped).
Unmarked, although there might be a monogram written in brown glaze on the base, but too runny to make out.
Not sure if it's worth going back for, especially at that price.
Has quite a distinctive neck.
Anyone recognise it?

Re: Large flat sided stoneware bottle.
I suspect it's a vintage piece (c.70s) because when I turned it over several rusted thumb tacks fell out.

Re: Large flat sided stoneware bottle.
Bernard Leach made bottles with this shape, but not with this shaped neck rim, so I suspect it's by one of his students or a 'follower of Leach'.

Re: Large flat sided stoneware bottle.
Not a Hamada glaze and if it reminds me of anyone glaze-wise it is Barbara Cass. I've never seen her do slab bottle though and if I had seen it I would have left it where it is. So not for re-sale but if you like it for what it is i.e. an unknown bottle then the price (or near offer) is fine.
My thinking it reminded me of Barbara Cass would suggest 1960s/70s.

Thanks, I'll check out Barbara Cass.
The other side has the same 3 line brush stroke decoration but is better glazed (glossier), but with a small burst bubble.
It was a toss up between this one and another large pot that had a monogram - I couldn't afford them both. (different style of pot so probably not the same potter as the bottle). It's stuck in the boot of the car at the moment, until I can smuggle it inside without hubby noticing.

Passed the shop but it was closed. Got a couple more photos through the window, this time of the other side.
