wonderful tea/coffee set -Regrets, i've had a few - Vallauris?
saw this on my travels today - but didn't buy it - will i regret it?
i only got a couple of photos, none of the bases (but they were unmarked and the whole of each piece was coloured all over with what appeared to be washes of different matt glazes to create a rich patina). The label said they were oriental - i suppose the cane handles suggest that. But i wasn't sure. Are they just Habitat/Heals/Conran? or genuine studio.

lol you won't regret it... but sometimes is good to follow your heart.. if i come across something i like i'd go for it right away i don't care if i lose on it or not... that's the joy of collecting i suppose... ups and down. when i started collecting i use to collect loads of rubbish and my wife kept on saying am just wasting away money.. but i knew all along that one day i will find one item that will cover all cost of the rubbish i collected when i first started collecting.. and i did in 2010.. bought a Chinese item at a junk shop for 7 pounds and it sold for 4 figures....
i'd rule out habitat and is that the price on it 399 pounds right?

Re: wonderful tea/coffee set -Regrets, i've had a few - Vallauris?
Tea and coffee sets are probably the most difficult things to sell and I think that it would have to be by a very good maker that I was certain of, in order for me to pay £50/55 for it. So if it was by Lucie Rie, yes, but what looks to me like a set of European origin that I can't attribute to a specific maker or designer, no.

£55 would be too steep for me unless I knew who made it. Sugar bowl is missing it's lid. Unusual to find something with a fitted tap - wouldn't have thought that was oriental.
