Re: GRAYSON PERRY FOR £15,000-£20,000????????
Perry is a celeb and that is it , there are many reasons why stuff goes for loony prices but being a minor celeb seems high on the list , ,Rolf Harris -crappy paintings for example , Perry knows about about self promotion and uses it cleverly , I could list loads of over priced tat that just has a good PR behind it , I personally think his pots are very average , .....I say average I mean , poor , ................I say poor , I mean awful , I say awful.......................I mean I don't care about his hobby pots

So presumably Brin you would be salivating over his rather pedestrian item in the V&A Collection?

Re: GRAYSON PERRY FOR £15,000-£20,000????????
A snip compared to this, though

Now that's ugly.A painting by Francis Bacon of his friend and fellow artist Lucian Freud has become the most expensive artwork ever sold at auction after it fetched $142m (£89m, 106m euros) in New York.
The triptych, Three Studies of Lucian Freud (1969), is considered one of Bacon's greatest masterpieces.

An interesting New Statesman article with Grayson Perry and Brian Eno in conversation. The comments on the Art Market are interesting.I would also like to hire the Holiday let!

Re: GRAYSON PERRY FOR £15,000-£20,000????????
it will be interesting to see what that vase gets in auction its pre 2003 when he wone the turner prize I remember being there and the public loved his work , This was bought by someone who spotted him much earlier , if you compare the price guide to what his contemporarys are getting for paintings its a snip. thats what Graysons about bringing ceramic art into the art world rather than craft
Re: GRAYSON PERRY FOR £15,000-£20,000????????
I was going to make the same point - for a Turner Prize winner who is so sought after it's a pathetic price, just because it's pottery and not some conceptual nonsense
Re: GRAYSON PERRY FOR £15,000-£20,000????????
If the quality or relevance of art is judged by how much it fetches then by that token a piece of art would be worthless before an auction and priceless afterwards just another commodity really .
People like Perry etc are only interested in their own fame it's all about me me me , look at me ,a bit like a lot of society these days , hence the word selfie appearing in the dictionary now .

Re: GRAYSON PERRY FOR £15,000-£20,000????????
i think is stuff is very nice and moreover people nowadays like crazy, weird and quirky too...like is pots you can sit and watch it for hours and try to imagine what he was trying to portrait... i think that makes a very good artistic potter... something very different, from what people have seen before.
