Just popped into Leeds Art Gallery this lunchtime (Tour de France meeting but that's another story), and was rather delighted to find six lovely Staite Murray pots on display as part of an exhibition about Ben & Winifred Nicholson. I had no idea they knew each other or even that they were around at the same time! More here Art and Life exhibition

curious and co-incidental that there should be a Nicholson exhibition at Leeds as yesterday I visited the Pallant Gallery in Chichester where there is another rather wonderful exhibition by the Nicholsons and their circle/family. Also on show is an exhibition by painter, Sean Scully, which I didn't anticipate liking but actually found myself drawn to.

I sure do! Some old-fashioned but fascinating displays of locally made pottery from the 19th and early 20th century are my favourites. A wonderful reminder of the folk craft that flourished up this way and which remains largely unsung and unpublished as far as I know. No Bernard Leach to champion the tradition up here.
