McCarty Pottery, Mississippi, USA
I'm hoping someone recognizes the signature that is on both the bottom and top edge of this hand thrown pottery piece.
It is made 16 cm by 16 cm and about 7 cm high and .5 cm thick of white clay.
The glaze reminds me of Raku style , but but not as textured and bubbly in spots and with some black and red glazes applied in a few areas\

McCartys
Wow! Thanks for posting this! I have a piece with the same mark on it, and the same black wiggle at the edge, and it's been driving me nuts trying to figure out what it says--it's McCartys! from Mississippi. I used to be familiar with this stuff but lost interest and forgot about it--not to mention, without knowing, it's almost impossible to make "McCartys" out of that series of squiggles. The black wiggle or line is on all their pieces and symbolizes the Mississippi River. They have been at it since 1954. Check out their website: mccartyspottery.com.

Wow right back at you!.. They make some nice pottery. The glaze on mine reminds me of the old Roseville Pauleo vase I recently sold. If the cats knock the McCartys piece off the shelf I won't faint. Thanks so much for the ID and info.
