Re: Wallwork / Dawe on Ebay
I just spotted a pot on ebay described as 'vintage Alan Wallwork' but it has a stamped AW mark and looks more like the work of Bob Dawe?
I have only seen the scratched W and AW so is it legit?

Definately Dawe, looks like a slight variation on the Red Barn mark to me.

It's deffo the red barn pottery , either Bob dawe Or Howard Evans , the marks varied slightly , either way the only usually fetch about 10 or 12 quid .

Re: Wallwork / Dawe on Ebay
I mailed him and told him it's not wallwork , next minute it's sold for £60+ , he answered back with this -
?HI,

THIS IS NOT HIS MAKERS MARK? "AW" BELOW IS THE BOB DAWE MARK
?
REGARDS

Re: Wallwork / Dawe on Ebay
I don't know what all his ? marks are for either , ther's no connection between Dawe & Wallwork as regards this piece or any other , the seller hasn't done his homework and neither has the buyer ( sucker) who has spent way over the odds .dantheman wrote:I wonder what all the question marks mean?

Re: Wallwork / Dawe on Ebay
I love the description for the real piece of Wallwork that "awaits a bid" - NO CRACKS OR RESTORATION BUT CHIPS AROUND THE RIM WHICH IS USUAL FOR THIS DISH. Capital letters too.

Re: Wallwork / Dawe on Ebay
The self same dish was bought for £36.00 on Ebay on October 8. This listing was a lot clearer in the noting of the chips.
Its Ebay tho,is it not? With studio pottery especially, what is a chip or flaw, and what is part of the making? Its a Caveat Emptor market a lot of the time,no matter what Ebay might claim.

Wallwork / Dawe on Ebay
It's always buyer beware imo, not ebays fault though , proper description is down to the seller , they should admit any faults and show pics tactfully , not making a nibble look like the grand canyon .
