Spode? porcelain (apologies for not being pottery) cup & saucer marked 2497
Apologies, I know this is a pottery forum, but I have been unsuccessful in finding out who made this cup and saucer, probably 19th century.
My first thoughts when I saw it was Spode, but the handle does not match any Spode 19th century cups I have looked at online through my various searches.
I thought I would post here for some help. It is marked in gilt on the base of each piece 2497, no other marks present.
Could this be Spode or maybe one of the other Staffordshire companies or even continental, another thought I had after not being able to find that style of handle on anything as yet. The handle is like a cross between a loop and seven handle, it has me totally baffled as to who made this cup and saucer.
Thank you in advance.

Re: Spode? porcelain (apologies for not being pottery) cup & saucer marked 2497
It's an unusual handle which could point to a later date, as they were developing new styles rather than just copying traditional forms - maybe early 20th Century as factories were hand decorating well into the 20s (and later, of course, but an early 20h century date may explain the lack of a factory mark).
The flowers remind me of Dresden china, so if Rockingham doesn't pan out, maybe check out the smaller German factories.

Thank you both Bistoboy and Naomi, I will look in to your suggestions tomorrow, when I get more time (hopefully!)
