Pictures are really bad, but from what I can see I think it's probably right.

There is quite a bit of variation in his pots, but I'm sure you've handled / seen more of his pots than me.

Re: Waistel cooper On ebay
Well it looks more like Waistel than some of the things that I thought weren't and have proved to have been by him.
Also it is more typical than the chipped mug that was on there recently that we both agreed was his work.
The vase does look a bit lop sided and the scratched decoration (I can't spell sgraffito ) doesn't look that good, which would make me feel that it might not be by him. However, because it doesn't look that good whether it is by him or not would be irrelevant to me.
I always leave things alone that I have doubts about and think that is always the right option. Maybe I ought to add the caveat ................... unless they're £2.95?

Re: Waistel cooper On ebay
good point , the chipped mug was 100% Waistel Though Imo , no doubts about that one , with this one the signature looks really iffy , ok maybe an off day by old waistel , I don't know , just wondered what everybody else thought that's all , bid on

Re: Waistel cooper On ebay
I wouldn't rule it out. Signature looks similar to this one -

Looks like there's another.

Tbh, it's starting to look cheap.

Pretty sure that's a real one. I'd love to have it.

Anyone really interested in his work, who have seen it and have money available, should be getting nervous now!

Re: Waistel cooper On ebay
If I had seen it privately at that price I most likely would have bought it. I suspect the buyer is very pleased.

Re: Waistel cooper On ebay
Does anyone feel guilty when they get a absolute steal ..knowingly 100% ? Not just I think it was worth a punt?
My mother used to know all the local antiques dealers and she told me a story a dealer told her.... Man comes into the her shop, and has a good look round and enquirers about an object. Can't remember what it was, but the deal is done, item packed, he pays with a fifty. When she proffers his change (something like £25) he just quietly muttered, "no that's OK, keep it" and left . She was cursing...
Probably better to take you change and leave then?

Re: Waistel cooper On ebay
Bought this brooch last year from a flea market, unmarked but I thought it was gold.
When I asked the price the guy said "I think it's gold - it's a pound"
Sure enough a friends wife who works in a jewellers checked it out for me.
I didn't feel guilty because the guy told me what it was to make the sale but I think he really didn't believe what he was telling me.

I don't feel guilty. But I follow a number of Potters on Facebook and I do feel a pang of guilt if I've found any of their pottery for a pittance in the charity shop.

If I took a punt on one in a charity shop & it turned out to be far more valuable but if it was from a dealer or similar I'd just smile & feel pleased with myself.
