Don Schaumburg
I see "SCH-UMB-Y(or G), and 55 as the date? I've seen this signature on pieces before, in person, and it came from that wealthy estate where I got the big yellow Chinese lamp/vase. If the date is 55, that's a good era for studio art pottery, so it might be something. Anyone familiar with this name? I've definitely seen it before

Re: Don Schaumburg
Possibly Schramberg pottery, Germany.

Re: Don Schaumburg
Actually, just found him, its Don Schaumburg
Schramberg would have been the most logical guess though, since its well-known art pottery
Thanks again Naomi, boy I'm on a roll with identifying art pottery. Maybe I should post that other weird old piece

Re: Don Schaumburg
As a Navy Reserve in the late 1940s Schaumberg gained a reputation as a fine artist but began potting around 1950 in the San Diego area.
His ceramics are what he became known for and for many years was a valued member of the Art Department at Arizona State University.

Yup, that's the page I found too. He made this one a year after moving here apparently. I've seen that name on pieces around here before, now I know why
