I suspect it's by one of the village cooperatives that make pottery for sale to tourists.

Traditional pottery would not be glazed in this way and the handles are pulled in a very european way and also glazed in that way also ... would have to be post 57 when Ghana was founded...this pot is as good as any made by Abuja by Ladi Kwali

Of course Michael Cardew was working in the then Gold Coast at Vume from 1945 to 48 so that could be where the handles and the Cardewesque glaze on the outside may have their origins.

Thats how far I had got, seemed a bit of a coincidence must be a link no matter how tenuous to british studio pottery... Studio-pots sent pics to v&a but out of their remit they suggested the BM... ethnographic department ...
