Simon Leach
Although potters usually change their seals throughout their careers, especially as seals can easily be lost or misplaced, I thought that it might be helpful to post a photograph of a seal mark of Simon Leach.
This is on the bottom of a bowl that I bought directly from him in 2005 and you will note the impressed SPAIN mark as well.

I believe so but he might have made his own things at Lowerdown at various times and then had the Lowerdown Cross mark too. He told me that he did a fair amount of the brush decoration at Lowerdown when visiting.

I found the image of the stoneware lidded jar below in my files, which is more recent than his "raku" period above.

Simon was much younger than his two brothers and his impending birth and the need for family security was one of the deciding factors in David leaving the "partnership" with his father at the Leach Pottery. I remember having an "interesting" conversation about this with David and his wife one day at Lowerdown.
