Handpainted Vase - Continental?
just typical! tiny area of glaze missing on the signature on this piece. Wondering if anyone has come across the base mark before and can point me in the right direction. Also very curious as to why there are two holes through the base

I think we've had this before, or at least one with the same mark. I suspect it's French folk pottery, signed by the artist. The shape is based on that if the pilgrim flask and the holes (and small handles) are for hanging it to walls or tying it to backpacks and caravans.

arrrrr that's interesting thanks, seems to be dated alongside the signature which looks like 1876? Just been ploughing through all the marks on the OldandSold website which I find useful but nothing as yet

Re: Handpainted Vase - Continental?
Came across something similar recently, made by a French pottery that's been passed down several generations of the same family: R.E. Ciboure
Could be a 19thC example.
