Kolonyama Pottery, Lesotho - Joe Finch, etc.
In 1968 Joe Finch was given a 2 year contract to set up a pottery in Lesotho, Africa, the Kolonyama pottery was the result; there is some information regarding this pottery on the web so I presume it is still functioning.
Joe Finch now has a studio in Tanygroes, West Wales, I do not know if the following bowl is of Joe's era or of a later date.

It's a fine looking bowl with very pleasant brushwork.
You could email Joe and ask him if he can give you any information? Potters are usually very helpful.

Following on from studio-pots suggestion I emailed Joe and he very kindly replied:
The bowl shown was made, by Joe and decorated by Trudi, his wife, during one of their 3 month visits back to Kolonyama, probably in 1975; sadly the pottery closed about 10 years ago.

Re: Kolonyama Pottery, Lesotho - Joe Finch, etc.
I thought that the shape and decoration suggested that it was a "Finch" production but I knew nothing about the pottery's output.
Thank you Sepultus for taking the trouble to get this useful information.

Possibly Andrew Hague, Askrigg Pottery. Although it might be an old Vellow piece.

Reminds me somewhat of a David Leach style decoration.. One of his pupils? Robert Tinnyunt? Tim Andrews?

Unusual Pottery Marks - Kolonyama Pottery
Hello pottery experts, I wonder if you can help again.
I just bought an interesting looking pitcher which the seller said was made by either Ray, Joe or Trudi Finch.
The pottery marks don't reflect this howeveJay.r so hopefully someone here might know?

Yet again Naomi, you have cracked the nut, many thanks.
I've sent an e-mail to Joe in the hope he might recognise the actual potter.
Regards,
Jay.
