Oddly enough I came across the same mark last month. Not Cardew. More likely Continental.

Molly Curley mark is similar but not quite right - also an Australian potter but again the mark isn't quite right.

Could it be MAXWELL COWLIN - POTTERY, MARLOW, BUCKINGHAMSHIRE
Very similar base material and flat also- Lots of different styles. Perhaps he's more than one mark?

Hmm that EB item does seem to have a C mark in an octagon.

No, Maxwell Cowlin has a very distinctive mark and isn't the same as this one.
