Stoneware pottery jug marked MC
Here is a well made stoneware jug with a Nuka Glaze for identification. It has a very nice and distinctive handle with thumb support, the base of the jug having incised initials MC . The base has also been painted with what seems to be a red oxide which makes it resemble red earthenware which it is not. I have never seen this before and wonder if anyone knows if this is a characteristic style of any potter who is known. I cannot find this mark in Yates-Owen but although in perfect condition has signs of age in the interior.

Re: Stoneware pottery jug marked MC
Change of description, I must have been having a brainstorm though I need a brain to have one of those.
Ignore my earlier suggestion, the base of this pot is not painted. This jug has been made using red earthenware and is not stoneware as previously stated. When handled it does feel like stoneware.
