help to identify this mark, possibly japanese?
Hi, has anyone seen this mark before or have any idea on the potter? The larger one is about 12" tall.

Looks like a deer or stag. Possibly Danish.

Can't really see the mark clearly in your image but the clay body and the shapes are not typically Japanese. That doesn't mean that they weren't made there though.

Actually makes it more difficult when it's a 'negative; impression, but I'm still seeing a deer.

I can't be sure but the mark could well be Japanese but it isn't going to help me with an identification. Are you more certain that it is a Japanese mark, eshearm, after seeing your impression?

Hi studio-pots, I am and I have taken a pic through my large eye piece and it looks japanese, like Naomi said it looks so Danish which is what was confusing me! May be a japanese potter working in Denmark?! They are fab though and look great together, I think this may remain one of those many pot mysteries, thanks guys x

It looks like a Japanese mark, as you say - I'll keep my eyes open but don't hold your breath.

Hi, this is confirmed asa japanese mark that reads "seizan" not greatly helpful as a common word in japan, but expert thought it meant the potter, but as yet no link with a studio potter with this sign!

Re: help to identify this mark, possibly japanese?
I have just checked and the same kanji characters also translate as the Japanese family name Nishiyama so that might be another option.
