Re: Clarice Cliff
Not my particular interest, I was looking at some Studio Pottery in the same sale. It just struck me how strong the Clarice Cliffe market still is. Most of these went in the£50- £150 price range with the normal scattering of unsolds, and the odd piece making over £1000. It makes a spectacular display though!

Re: Clarice Cliff
Well one mans gaudy is another mans beauty. Dunno, if I had to take some of this type of stuff I would take the CSA Poole which is prettier IMO - softer on the eye. More harmonious, this lot deliberately clashes.
Re: Clarice Cliff
Hi Crawford, I agree many of the early CSA pieces in the more subtle art deco style are more sophisticated and fit in better with the interior design of that period. I think the market for Clarice has softened somewhat and the crocus and other common patterns are not making nearly as much as they did some years ago.

Re: Clarice Cliff
Hi Studio-pots, I think many collectors of 20th century ceramics started by collecting Clarice or Susie Cooper , many pieces passed through our hands in the early days and they mostly sold very quickly but i must admit i got sick and tired of seeing yet another crocus pattern tea cup or bowl. As you probably know a number of very rare pieces have fetched large sums recently on par with some of the best studio pots.
