Mexico. Ken Edwards or Jorge Wilmot. More likely to be Wilmot because he uses dots as a date code.

I seem to recall reading that it's a cottage industry over there, so could well be a lady's hand.
As for what they're used for, god knows. I have a dozen lidded boxes by different potters. All empty.

Yes, they're on there. It's the same one as yours, incl. label. Seems it was unsold on ebay back in august.
