Can anyone help ID this drip glaze bowl with G. E. O. No 1 on bottom??
Any help would be appreciated! it's 6 1/2" in diameter and almost 4 inches tall. The initials look like G.E.O. with no 1 underneath. I know its a long shot but I found it in a thrift store close to Biloxi, Ms so I wondered if George Edgar Ohr ever signed any pieces like this? I know that he made some bowls that were simliar in size and shape.

Re: Can anyone help ID this drip glaze bowl with G. E. O. No 1 on bottom??
Welcome to the Forum. I know that George Ohr made some weird and wonderful things and used a variety of marks. However, the thing that indicates to me that it isn't by him or connect to him is that it is almost certainly factory made rather than an individual piece by a studio potter. The continuation of the glaze all over and on the foot (base) indicate this.
I would suggest looking at factories that might have used that type of mark.
Finally, it looks to be around 100 years old from the form/colour.

I know it's not too clear, but it looks like G & S to me.

I agree with it looking factory made, and the glazed base indicates a c.1920-30s date
