oh thanks Dan. Yes, I'll probably never get another, however said friend is indeed a good friend and totally fell for him :)
I love some of the Sargadelos porcelain figures but not others. They seem a bit random sometimes.

Re: Sargadelos (Spain)
bought these today - oil and vinegar . Bad pic but they are the dark blue and goldy colour. Never seen this pair before. Not the same kind of make-up as my knife grinder. I think he was older mmm wishing I'd kept him now.

Re: Sargadelos (Spain)
I'm no expert but I would say it's quite a modern piece as it's just blue and white

Re: Sargadelos (Spain)
I was so lucky to find this today at Oxfam. A sticky plate holding disc had been stuck on the back OVER all the information except
........DELOS.
Info on the artist Antonio JESUSA QUIROS is scarce, but a search shows one of these plates being sold in 2010 for about twenty times what I paid.
I've hankered after one of the more "cubist" type sculptural pieces for a while, but this will do until one of those falls into my lap, and I'm far too lazy to go in active search of one. Also serendipity brings such unexpected joy.................

Lovely.
I've always wondered if those plate holding discs are difficult to remove. Have you tried yet?

Re: Sargadelos (Spain)
Dan is right. After pulling the top layer off with the metal ring which goes on the nail, the rest dissolves very quickly in warm water and it is such a relief when it is GONE.

Always look for any red colour in Sargadelos.
candle stick - Sargadelos, Spain
The decoration doesn't look Polish but the pose of the figure is like others I've seen. It could be Scandinavian perhaps?
