Charles Barlow, Hanley, Staffs
Hand painted vase with gold decoration by Charles Barlow, Smithfield Works, Hanley Staffs. although it only has his partial mark on the base, so possibly later than c.1880 when he used the full mark. c.1900?

Sssh. I won't tell if you don't *wink*
Tbh I think it does scrape into the 20thC because the only reason I can think why it's s partial Mark is if it was made after Charles Barlow's death or retirement, before the business was dissolved.

Barlow took out a patent on the gold decorating in 1882, so as Denby says you're on shaky ground, NaomiM, and an example has to be set.
You'd better expect a visit from one of my East End enforcers, who I've put on your case.
Big Brin aka Well Hard Mcardle might seem a pussycat on the surface but he ran with the Krays, you know?

I've just realised that in my last post I should have written "ran from" rather than "ran with". Sorry.
