cobalt blue posy vase
lovely little vase, I thought it might have been glass but it has a dink to the top with porcelain body showing through. Any ideas re the marks with an idea of date or factory? thanks

Re: cobalt blue posy vase
If it is pottery then I don't think it is porcelain, as I can't find that mark used by a French porcelain factory.
I don't have as comprehensive a source of French earthenware/stoneware marks and haven't been able to find it so far.

I have seen one of Sevre artists (Rosset) had a very similar mark but in the 18th century....I know it isn't that but did they use it later as well?

Can't find it being used at Sevre later and I'm certain the vase wasn't made there.

Can't find anything like it in the marks used by 89 factories/decorating studios in Limoges.

Looks like glass to me with a large ground, polished pontil mark.

It does to me as well, Roy, but that is something that is much easier to ascertain by touching it than from a photograph.

Agreed, was just a line of thought.

Re: cobalt blue posy vase
If that symbol is an axe, it could be from the same maker as the vase described in this old auction catalogue (called pottery, but listed amongst the glass). No maker suggested, unfortunately.

I think you could be right there Hercules....is definately ceramic as I saw as there is a bit showing through.....the neck and foot of the vase shown in the link above looks very similar to me, also the date/style....
