Dog Figurines with Reg No...
Hi all. I have these four unusual Dogs. As you can see they have a regd des no and a word at the base of each. An unusual Channel runs down the back o each one. I thought maybe to stand around something but it is just as likely they were just made that way. I cannot find anything about them at all and have run out of search criteria !! They are 9cm in Height. Modelled after a cartoon Sketch Possibly ? Any Help would be appreciated. Thanks

Re: Dog Figurines with Reg No...
as a kid I bought two of these in the early 60s" easy come" and "easy go" if I remember rightly, never seen them since
Re: Dog Figurines with Reg No...
Did they have the groove down the back ( if you remember) seems like they might have been a series of 'sayings' if you remember anything please let me know. Thanks

But those quotes stuck with you forever?
Re: Dog Figurines with Reg No...
I was persuaded by my brother to buy them for our parents as a christmas present, they were probably horrified, I think they may have had a groove on the back but a long time agodenbydump wrote:tenpot wrote:as a kid I bought two of these in the early 60s" easy come" and "easy go" if I remember rightly, never seen them since

Re: Dog Figurines with Reg No...
Nick nacks is a term used for these I think. I bought my parents a lot worse lol. I don't get the groove part. It's not important but I like to figure things out.

The groove might have held place/name cards, if they were used for dinner parties

Re: Dog Figurines with Reg No...
pretty sure thats part of the moulding process some sort of rubber mould, mine were a paler colour if I remember have yours got smoked a bit?
Re: Dog Figurines with Reg No...
Agreed. Probably meant to stand with their backs to the wall like the old Staffordshire figures.

Are you sure they are pottery?
The backs make me wonder if they are celluloid?

Smoked like a kipper ! thanks 22 Crawford for the pic. They need a good scrub. The face on 'Service' is probably closest to the true colour.

Re: Dog Figurines with Reg No...
Potty. They look like pottery ?? In the broken part at the back it looks like salt crystals in some kind of powder. ? I am now unsure if they are resin or pot. I will look again in the morning. I won't be cleaning them anymore than I did. The paint would come off. I like these more the longer I see them. I will do my usual and list and see what happens. Just extras in an auction lot. Thanks all.

Re: Dog Figurines with Reg No...
if they were pottery you would expect them to be hollow more likely some sort of resin the powdery crystals sounds like cascamite a wood glue sometimes used for casting objects
Re: Dog Figurines with Reg No...
With the resin idea..and this is just a thought..would they make a row of them on some kind of dowel placed on top when poured into a mold to hold while drying. No idea why I want to know. Just curious.

Agreed. Looks like plaster to me. Possibly made in a rubber mould that peals off when it's set. Don't wash them.
