green vase, unclear marking
Hello,
This is my first post on this forum, hopefully i'll have some beginner's luck. The vase is 7 inches tall and 6 inches at it's widest. The mark seems to be a cursive "y" inside or on top of a "c" (can you imagine the momentary rush i had when i saw the large C? but alas no Newcomb.) The other mark is very indistinct but it seems to be some sort of seal, a small crown with a wreath, what's in the middle is indistinguishable (to me, at least.) Thank you for any help you might be able to provide in my attempts to identify the maker.

welcome to the forum J
if the maker's stamp is impressed you could possibly run a pencil around it so we could see it more clearly

Well it's a crystalline glaze, so that should norrow things down a little.

Isn't the top mark the crowned double-headed eagle?

Re: green vase, unclear marking
Thank you everyone for taking a look. dantheman, I tried the pencil suggestion but the impression is so faint that it has minimal effect. Potty, thank you, I am absolutely new to pottery and ceramics so all terms are new to me (this was a thrift store find, $4!), Hercules Brabazon, I think you are right, what I thought to be wreaths I now agree look more like wings. I'll keep looking with this new information, and again thank you.
