Weller (Ohio)
Just found this interesting piece at my favorite charity shop. I've never, ever have seen a glaze like this and don't even know how to describe it. Volcanic? Organic? I think that it could be as old as the 1920's, maybe arts and crafts, definitely American but would love any input or help that you can give me. I had to share it because it's so unusual. I've been a potter for 20 years and have collected for 40 years and haven't ever seen a glaze like this. I almost thought that it was paint, but it isn't. Thanks everyone!

Great vase. I can't tell if it's a crawled shino glaze, or slipware.

Re: Weller (Ohio)
I think that it's more crawled shino glaze, although the shape is Asian, I think that it still might be American. Just perplexed with the age....thanks so much for the suggestion. I'm not familiar with crawled shino glaze, but that's the closest example to it that I've seen. If it were slipware, it would have all been hand applied instead of dripping in the firing.
Thanks Naomi!

I had this piece identified and appraised by "Just Art Pottery" and they say it's a Weller Frosted Matte Glazed piece dated from 1915.
