Small Studio Pottery Jug - Clearly Marked - Can anyone ID? Empty Small Studio Pottery Jug - Clearly Marked - Can anyone ID?

Hi All.  Found in North Yorkshire with a clear impressed mark on the base (an axe? and the letters HC).  Does anyone recognize this mark.  The jug measures 9 cms tall and is 8.5 cms in diameter at the base and weighs 300 gms.  Any help much appreciated.
