Japanese weed pot? Empty Japanese weed pot?

Hi everyone - I have this lovely little pot, measuring about 4"high. Has anyone ever seen this signature? It might be Japanese.....

First time I heard of 'weed pots' was on a US forum. We call them bud vases in the UK.
This has 77 written in the European way so I suspect it's continental or US rather than Oriental.

I thought maybe the sybol was a Kanji character or something, but haven't been able to find it.
