There is a mark that could be this in "the book". The potter was a Joyce Haynes and it is one of the marks she used from 1947 when in Scarborough and continued to use near Newark after moving there in 1960.
It says she made stoneware with ash glazes, which fits your teapot, but never having knowingly seen any of her work I can't say that it is by her with any confidence.

Thanks SP, yes that mark is not very prominent in the book, which is why I must
have missed it, but it looks right.

I have a bowl with this mark which I posted here. I'll look back and find it. It wasn't identified so don't get your hopes up :-)
