Bamboo handles
Funny just how many studio potters used these bamboo handles on teapots.
Briglin used them extensively, I even have a David Leach one, with the exact
same handle.

Were potters apprehensive about making a full handle for some reason,
and this was just an easy way out?
Somewhee in the world, there must have been a thriving cottage industry churning these out.
Re: Bamboo handles
just fashion I think, the handles are very easy to make from clay

Re: Bamboo handles
Well it make sense as the the heat does not transfer to the wood. Thermal break and all that but they are not very piratical.
Re: Bamboo handles
I'm assuming that someone brought the concept back in the first half of C20th. I've seen several, but not starting till 40s? 50s?
Re: Bamboo handles
Well many biscuit barrels in the 20s/30s had those woven cane handles, not Bamboo
exactly, but a similar idea.
I'm guessing there were too many rejects in the kiln, so this was an easier way of
doing it.
