Pinched pottery cup, ID help - probably Honma, Japan

Another unknown pottery piece that I need ID help with, I found a vaguely similar bowl by Lucie Rie but the signature is not hers so any help would be appreciated

Looks like a Japanese mark.

Thanks Naomi, I think more searching of character marks is going to be the order of the day, just looked at the far eastern pottery forum which may have helped me identify another pot I have so that's a bonus

I think it might just be a mark saying "Japan" and it does look like a factory made export item.

Googled Japan in Japanese & the 1st character tallies up, not sure about the 2 character though, I was hoping it was a bit better than a factory export but hey ho, here's another 2 piece I have, was drawn to them because of the shape

I agree about the 2nd character but thought that might have be stylised a little for effect.

Factories in Japan are often more traditional than here but the smooth finish to the base usually means "factory made".

They are lovely quality.

There are mant potters with this name but one in Japan with a production possibly in this style
Honma Tomoyuki 本間友幸  .I  think he is in Nagano area
but i don't know is mark sorry
