Lizard on ball - no mark

Hi all,
I have this unusual piece which is some kind of lizard-type creature sitting on top of a ball with its tail curled round. I've looked all over but can't find any mark. There is a small hole in the bottom. It measures approx. 4" x 3.75" x 3.5" and weighs approx. 240g. Any ideas? Thanks.

Looks like a Chameleon to me, sorry no idea on the potter though.
