Beautiful Yellow Sudio Pot - Villeroy & Boch
This one has a few things on the base; a large letter G and what looks like HR 73T 1 S all spread out in different places. Beautiful glaze - deep mustardy colour at the bottom and getting paler towards the top.

Re: Villeroy & Boch (Germany, Austria, Luxembourg, France)
Studio ?
Viilleroy & Boch Dresden, Kunstabteilung / art department,
BTW V&B Dresden was the first factory(!) which developed drip glazes on white earthenware 1902/1905.
form 731, size 1
shape 19th century, possibly in the catalog 1888 (i will check that)
your copy much later,
letter code H R = august 1919 i think (+/-1)
lleter S = modeller
cf. 731,2 decor 4996, with the mark of the art department (letters V&B interlaced inscribed in a big "D")
letters E S = may 1921 (+/-1)
(lertters A-M font face Antiqua / Times New Roman = month)
(letter font face Fraktur = year)
It could be easily proved that decor 4996 was produced in the early 20s,
cf. brochure 1926 with vase 1044 / 4996

Re: Villeroy & Boch (Germany, Austria, Luxembourg, France)
"please tell me what would lead me to know it's Villeroy & Boch"
Sorry, let´s talk about the V&B factory at Dresden only, founded 1856
You need a small selection / collection of identified pieces as your vase
and / or at least some good pictures as yours.
1. easy to identify as pieces by V&B Dresder are usually marked with the "mercure stamp" after 1875 more than 80 - 90 % i think
2. you have to know the comparatively rare stamp of the art department , founded 1883 (?) (do you recognise the letters ?)
3. you have to learn something about the other markings,
form numbers, letters, ... often in a frame, that´s the best way
to identify V&B Dresden pieces.
Some knowledge about typography could be helpful.
4. V&B catalogs, catalogs, catalogs, brochures, leaflets 1888 onwards
(---> V&B archives at Merzig, V&B museum / permanent exhibition
at Mettlach, you could ask them for help ---> Google )
5. literature about V&B Dresden
- exhibition catalog 1991
- if you are interested in the art department
i would like to recommend the book "Jugendstil in Dresden" , 1999
(Art nouveau at Dresden) which has a section about V&B Dresden
1900 / 1910 , written by Rainer Richter & Alfred Ziffer true experts

Found a whole set. Unfortunately way beyond my budget - and I'd need the cupboard too

Villeroy and Boch mug - impressed name but is it early?
Hi
Nice little mug but I was unable to find the pattern design and with the impressed marks I wondered how early it actually is?
