Tenmoku jug, tall grasses pattern, curled handle & 2 impressed stamps
Can someone ID the maker of this for me please?
12cm tall dark brown (tenmoku?) glazed cream/milk jug with lighter brown 'tall grasses' pattern.
Curled handle with small indentations in the handle, either side, at the top.
2 impressed stamps, either side the handle at the base. one looks something like 'AA' the other like 'mirror image of a swirled S'

Hi and welcome from Derbyshire. Nice to see you instantly got the hang of the
picture uploading, and good clear pix also!
Not exactly tenmoku, the SS looks like 2 swans or ducks snogging, but nothing
in the book under birds unfortunately. One for Naomi I think.....

Hi from Derbyshire
Thanks for your reply, glad you like my pix. They do look like two swans, I've been researching all sorts of bird related stamps but still left scratching my head. I've got one or two....or maybe a few more pots I've gathered and the markings or style identification are beyond my resources (3rd Potters marks' book & Google ). I'm far from an expert (the tenmoku thing) just love pots and thought I'd join, so it's great to get some feedback.

Lovely jug. Not marks I've come across before - looks like AA and two swans or ducks to me too. There's a small possibility it's from the US or Canada. 1960s-70s vintage, maybe? There are a lot of unrecorded potters who were working back then.

Thanks for that, I'll try looking further into the US Canadian thing but I guess, if like you say, it's an unrecorded potter I may never pin it down. Never mind I do love the jug and I greatly appreciate your opinion.
Now for the next pot......
