Metalic glaze studio bowl

Ok so I am addicted    

I feel less shame though when I get to look at things like this bowl. Measuring at a reasonable 8 inches wide, this little ceramic jewel has a metallic almost oil slick glaze. It appears to be very well thrown with an abstract squiggle character mark to the base. It's a mystery, so if you have clues to its source I would love to hear (this is when I find out it's Ikea)

Japanese?

It's a Japanese type of mark but the style isn't familiar to me..... so not sure.
