Groan! - Coronation Cup
Morning all - I know this is not the most popular of items, but..... A very dear friend of mine, who is in the later stages of suffering with Parkinsons, has been a collector of royal memrobilia for over 50 years. He has one of the finest private collections in the country, including very rare examples of high quality porcelain etc. , as well as many of a more 'humble' type. I picked up this cup yesterday for 49p, and I know he has nothing like it in the collection. I was going to surprise him with it on his birthday Friday. A long shot I know, as there are no markings, but can anyone suggest what pottery made it?
Many thanks,
Alan.

One of the Torquay ware ones would be my guess. Not sure which ones were still operating at that late stage.

Hi Alan
It is almost certainly from Torquay. There are several factories who used the common red clay from that part of the world to make items like yours.
