mid-century German or Irish? - Kilrush or Ü-Keramik?
Hi All. Found this in Yorkshire and am pretty sure it's mid-century German. Can anyone id it (date/maker). Simply marked on the base with the impressed numbers 1009/8. Measures 9 cms in diameter and 8 cms tall and weighs 166 gms. Also any ideas what it's function is - a jug, bowl or candle holder. I think the last is least likely as it is completely hollow. Thanks

Hi sean
Think your right its almost certainly German. Lots of info available on the web about fat larva companies, just google Id's and you should find some similar bases. I would also like to suggest that its a coffee cup, the shape and the handle lend itself to that use.

Found these web sites that seem to point towards U Keramik (Überlacker Keramik).
First link shows a jug with very similar decoration
https://www.pinterest.com/pin/175077504243794571/
Second link shows a very similar item regards shape but with a different decorations and is larger
https://www.pinterest.com/pin/175077504243794564/
However neither of these sites show any proof (i.e. labels) that the vase is by U Keramik, but at least it's a possibility.

Hi guys!
I also think it could be a Kilrush item.
Here two items with very similar glaze and Kilrush sticker

Here 2 pics of a Ü-Keramik attributed 8cm high vase marked 1511-8:

At the moment i think there are 2 different form numbers for the same form and one of them was made by Kilrush, the other one from Ü-Keramik.

Micha
