Re: Loetz Glass
I may have an answer to my own question here. I found a vase in Mark Hill's publication Hi Sklo Lo Sklo(page 51 right) attributed to Frantisek Koudelka at the Prachen Glassworks in 1973 as part of a range entitled Flora. There is also a link to a Glassmessages topic entitled Czechoslovakian vase with label where another smaller vase in this range is shown. My friends vase looks brighter but it was photographed under a strong sun which tended to overexpose the subject. The colours seem very similar to me although the green has dominence here as opposed to blue on the GM and the shape may be another in the Flora range. What do you think? Thanks,
Bryn

Re: Loetz Glass
This turned out to be a Loetz spatter glass vase with aventurine circa 1900 and is now winging it's way to the USA for far more than I could have ever wished for.

Re: Loetz Glass
thanks cookiepops your damn right is loetz... if you did not mention it i wouldn't have come to think is loetz, notwithstanding i have seen a lot of loetz glass work and held some before, sometimes this information you acquire when you need it you can't just pin point it at the right point in time.

Loetz Glass
?
I don't do glass but found this in a charity yesterday. It does have age scratches / ware so not new.
Is it a fruit bowl ? Age? It's not marked just he ground pontil. 230mm x 80mm
Is it Loetz 'Papillon'

Re: Loetz Glass
FYI from Loetz.com - Very helpful and kind people!
Thank you for contacting us. I agree with your assessment. This is a Loetz Crete Papillon bowl. The size of the spots and the iridescent interior indicate that is was most likely made after 1918. If you look closely (shining a LED light also helps) you may find an oval "Czech-Slovakia" acid mark on the pontil.
Kind regards,
Deb Fitzsimmons
